The Mumbai Indians (MI) have retained their captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, for INR 1.8 crore ahead of the 2025 Women’s Premier League (WPL) mini-auction. Harmanpreet was initially acquired for this amount in the inaugural 2023 auction, and MI has retained her for the same salary, maintaining their investment in her as a foundational player for the squad.
Alongside Harmanpreet, MI retained 14 players while releasing Priyanka Bala, Humaira Kazi, Fatima Jaffer, and English all-rounder Isabelle Wong. The team now heads into the mini-auction with INR 2.65 crore in their purse, needing to acquire four players, including one overseas addition.
Harmanpreet’s Performance with MI
Harmanpreet led MI to the inaugural WPL 2023 title, delivering consistent performances with both bat and leadership. In 2024, she was the top scorer for MI, accumulating 268 runs in seven matches at a strike rate of 141.05. Although MI’s campaign ended with a narrow defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Eliminator, Harmanpreet’s leadership and run-scoring remain invaluable to the team.
