Indian Women’s off-spinner Sneh Rana has drawn inspiration from the Indian men’s team, emphasizing how winning an ICC trophy is the result of years of perseverance and hard work. The Men in Blue recently ended their 11-year wait for an ICC trophy by clinching the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA.

The Indian women’s team now has a golden opportunity to secure their first ICC Trophy, with the T20 World Cup scheduled to be held in Bangladesh later this year. Rana highlighted the collective efforts and dedication of the Women in Blue towards achieving their goal.

Speaking to PTI, Sneh Rana remarked:

“The Indian women’s cricket team, if you look at the past 2-3 years, is doing its best. For (winning) the ICC trophy, let’s take the men’s (team’s example), it took almost 10 years to get the trophy. They have been preparing and working hard for it for a long time. To achieve something big, it will not happen overnight.”

Rana believes that with continuous effort and a proper process in place, the Indian women’s team will end their ICC trophy drought just like the men’s team did.

Sneh Rana on India Women Constantly Wanting to Improve

Fielding has been a concern for the Indian women’s team, and Sneh Rana acknowledges the discussions surrounding it. However, she asserted that every player is committed to improving and putting in the necessary practice to raise their standards.

On this matter, she stated:

“When we play a number of matches, the chances of errors are more. But it doesn’t mean that someone is bad at it. Obviously, as a player, when you are on the field, you want to always do your best for your country. No one is there to say that it’s okay, it will happen (ho jayega). (But) it could also be a matter of a bad day for someone.”

India are the defending champions of the Women’s Asia Cup, and their campaign in the 2024 edition of the tournament will begin against Pakistan on July 19.
